Chirping
Child Safety Standards
Last updated: October 2026
Our commitment
Chirping (developed by Dr Faruk Biswas) has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE), including child sexual abuse material (CSAM). This content and behaviour are prohibited everywhere in the app: in Chirps communities, posts, comments, photos, usernames, profile photos, and in private and nearby chats.
What is prohibited
- Any material that sexually depicts, sexualises or exploits a minor (anyone under 18), including drawn, edited or AI-generated imagery.
- Grooming: befriending or contacting a minor to sexually abuse or exploit them, or asking a minor for sexual images, conversations or meetings.
- Sextortion: threatening or pressuring anyone, especially a minor, using intimate images.
- Trafficking, advertising or soliciting minors for sexual purposes.
- Sharing, requesting, linking to or promoting any of the above, or content that normalises the sexual abuse of children.
Who can use Chirping
Chirping is not directed at children under 13, and you must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age in your country) to use it.
How to report
- In the app: open the menu (⋯) on any post and choose Report Post; tap Report under a comment; tap a username and choose Report; or open a chat's info screen and choose Report. Pick Child sexual abuse or exploitation as the reason.
- Private chats are end-to-end encrypted, so we can't read them. When you report a chat you can choose to include recent messages so our moderators can act.
- By email: Settings → Safety → Contact Safety Team, or write to farukbiswas59@gmail.com.
- Please don't download, forward or screenshot abusive images to report them. Report the post or account instead.
- If a child is in immediate danger, contact the police right away: 112 in India, or your local emergency number.
What we do
- Our moderators review child safety reports as a priority, aiming for within 24 hours.
- We remove CSAE content as soon as we confirm it, and permanently ban the accounts involved. Banned accounts can't post, comment, vote or message.
- We report apparent child sexual abuse material to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) through the CyberTipline, and to the relevant authorities, including India's National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (cybercrime.gov.in).
- We cooperate with law enforcement and respond to valid legal requests, in line with applicable laws, including India's Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and Information Technology Act.
How the app helps prevent abuse
- Strangers can't message you online until you accept their request.
- You can block anyone, which the server enforces, and mute anyone.
- Chirps photos are limited (one per post, five per day), stripped of location data, and removed after 90 days.
- Moderator powers are enforced on our server, so content and accounts can be removed quickly.
